What the trick looks like:
The magician (you!) shuffles a deck of cards and then removes 13 cards from the top of the deck. Then, one by one, you spell out the names of a card, starting with the ace: “A-C-E”. Every time you say a letter, take one card from the top of your 13 card deck, and place it on the bottom, face down. When you are done spelling the word, flip up the remaining card on the top of your deck. It will magically be the card you just spelled: the ACE!
Place the ace on the table in front of you and spell the next card: “T-W-O” (remember to take one card from the top of the deck & place it on the bottom of the deck for each letter). Flip up the remaining top card and it will magically be the TWO!
Next, spell “three” and repeat this pattern of spelling, and moving cards one at a time for each letter, and you will magically reveal each card you spell, in order all the way up to the KING!
How it's done:
Here’s the trick: take 13 different cards (ace, 2, 3, 4, etc all the way up to the king. It doesn’t matter what suit they are) and place them in this order: 3,8, 7, ace, queen, 6, 4, 2, jack, king, 10, 9, & 5. Keep these 13 cards together, while you only “pretend” to shuffle the deck. Make sure they end up on the top of your deck, and then just follow the steps listed above. The rest of this trick will just work itself… like MAGIC!
Tips:
Practice your spelling before your perform this trick. And if you perform this trick in front of a group, have EVERBODY spell the words out loud with you!
